New Zealand has a
multicultural population of around 4 million people from 145 different
countries. New Zealand's indigenous Maori make up around 14 percent of
the population. It is a spectacularly beautiful country with vast
mountains, rugged coastlines, scenic lakes, dense rainforests and
steaming volcanoes. Currently New Zealand generates about 10% of its
electricity geothermally from volcanic heat. New Zealand is separated
into the North and South islands and is of comparable size to the United
Kingdom. The main cities of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch offer
many different experiences for international students. The capital,
Wellington is the most southerly capital city on the planet. One thing
they all have in common is their beauty and access to stunning
wilderness and outdoor pursuits. The country has a strong economy, an
excellent education system, a high standard of living, a huge choice of
outdoor pursuits, is a playground for thrill seekers and is a cost
effective option for students to embark on their international education
and life experience.
